Early 20th Century Solid Walnut Writing Desk (c.1915–1925) | Fully Restored
An exceptional early 20th-century solid walnut writing desk, dating to approximately 1915–1925, from a transitional design period just pre-World War II, when furniture makers began reducing physical scale while maintaining traditional craftsmanship.
This desk retains original cabinet locks of an 1880s pattern, a detail often seen in high-quality workshops that continued to use proven hardware well into the early 1900s. The locks are fully functional and the original key is included.
The piece has been fully restored with great care, preserving its age, patina, and historical integrity rather than over-refinishing. The walnut grain is rich and expressive, and the desk remains structurally solid and highly usable as a contemporary home office or statement piece.
Key Features:
• Solid walnut construction (no veneer)
• Early 20th-century piece, approx. 1915–1925
• Original brass cabinet locks (1880s pattern), key included
• Sleek brass handles (recently updated, sympathetic to the period)
• Five drawers with smooth action
• Fully restored while retaining original character and age
• Elegant proportions reflecting the shift to smaller-scale desks of the era
Condition:
Excellent restored condition. Structurally sound, clean, and ready for everyday use while retaining authentic signs of age consistent with a 100+ year-old piece.
